Four age groups, four rhythms
We group children by age, but we look at their development rather than the calendar. Moving up is decided together by teacher and parent.

Our day, hour by hour
The backbone of the day is the same in every age group; the length and content of activities change with age.
- Welcome and free play
A teacher welcomes each child at the door; the child picks the first corner of the day.
- Breakfast
All together at the long table. Everyone carries their own plate.
- Main activity
Art, project or science, in small groups by age.
- Outdoors
Garden, sandpit and vegetable bed. In rain boots when it rains.
- Music and movement
Real instruments, dance and rhythm games.
- Lunch
Cooked that morning in the school kitchen.
- Nap and rest
Each class has its own nap room; non-sleepers rest in a quiet corner.
- Story circle
Books and storytelling on the rug.
- Afternoon snack
Fruit, home-made cookies, ayran or milk.
- Garden time
The second outdoor time of the day.
- Workshops and pick-up
Small workshops; parents get the day’s note at pick-up.
How do we teach?
Play comes first
We keep table work short. We learn numbers at the market, letters on the garden signs and taking turns on the slide.
Outside every day
Rain boots in the rain, coats in winter, out we go. The garden has our own vegetable bed and a sandpit.
Few children, lots of attention
Classes have at most 14 children and two teachers. Every child’s development file is read together with the parents at the end of term.
Home and school speak the same language
A short photo note every day and a parents’ meeting every month. We work on sleep, food and toilet habits together with you.

Join us for breakfast one morning
Tour the school, see the classrooms and the garden, meet the teachers. Visits are on weekdays at 10:00 or 15:30 and take about 45 minutes.
